Description
With this striking color combination, there was no way to miss this moth, obviously not a shy creature. Still trying to tack down the identity of this little fellow, photograph was taken near Pinos Altos, New Mexico.

Any luck on finding an identity on this guy yet?
Vicki Pelham replied:
No luck yet Chris but I certainly have been enjoying the search. WOW, nature is amazing!

Striking picture. I did some searching in some of my field guides. They are California ones but I found some close ones. Seirra Nevada Natural History discusses something called Geometer motns (family Geometridae). And another guide has something called a Darwin's Green which looks a lot like yours (no purple stripe) I hope this helps.

Unfortunately he's not in my book. I find if you ask in a discussion someone usually knows....he's cute in any case.

Thank you for taking a look! I'll update the info here when I do find out........

This is great, Vicki. I have a book of butterflies and moths. Going to see if I can find him. Great photo!
Vicki Pelham replied:
Many thanks Mary, if you do identify this little guy please let me know. I've been looking but haven't been able to fine this one yet....
