After the summer monsoon rains arrive in southwest New Mexico the wildflowers really come to life, bursting with color. Wild Sunflowers are abundant, I believe this to be commonly known as the Pecos or Puzzle Sunflower of the Asteraceae family. The wildflower field I came upon here was particularly wonderful because of the variety that created and interesting back drop for this on sunflower on display.
